If you have been joining me for the #AugustMindfulnessChallenge, you'll know that starting on August 8, we are practicing a daily one-minute meditation. If you're new to meditation, you might be surprised to discover that you don't need to set aside hours to sit on a cushion in order to meditate. All you really need is a few minutes set aside to tune in with yourself.
I'd like to share with you four of my favorite guided meditations on the Insight Timer app or website that you can do in less than 5 minutes.

Short Practice: Coming Home to the Breath
by Mindfulness for Health and Well-Being
"This is a short, yet restorative practice, that uses the breath as an anchor to the present moment. It can be used in any situation, as a means to reduce stress, tension, angst or frustration. Allow yourself to feel deeply calm, relaxed and grounded."

Be Here Now
by Rebecca Ryan
"A short, simple meditation practice that can be done almost anywhere. Matching mantra with breath, the benefits of this practice include clarity and presence. It can also create a sense of spaciousness as you notice the pauses in your breathing."

Five Minutes of Self-Compassion
by Lisa Abramson
"This is a short self-compassion meditation. Research by PhD Kristin Neff, suggests that giving ourselves a break and accepting our imperfections may be the first step toward better health. People who score high on tests of self-compassion have less depression and anxiety, and tend to be happier and more optimistic. Many of us were raised with the belief that we need to be hard on ourselves to get things done. Research has shown that the opposite is true. The key to getting more done is to be kind and gentle with yourself. Self-compassion actually boosts willpower."

Pre-Meeting Check-In: The Deloitte Meditation Series
by Emily Toner
"Start your meetings with presence. Increase your effectiveness and get more out of your time together. This is a quick and simple mindfulness practice designed to help you live your life with more presence, wellbeing and ease. Effortlessly weave this practice into your busy working day."
